Real Madrid confirms knee injury will force Benzema to miss Atletico match
The hits just keep on coming for Real Madrid.
With Luka Modric and Gareth Bale already set to miss the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against city rivals Atletico on Wednesday, the club has confirmed that ever-present striker Karim Benzema will join them on the sidelines.
"Following tests carried out on Karim Benzema at the La Moraleja Sanitas Hospital by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been found to have a sprain to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee. His situation will be monitored," read an exceedingly brief statement.
Benzema, who has notched 22 goals in all competitions this season, sustained the ailment in the opening leg of the tie with Atletico last week, and was substituted in the second half of that contest at the Vicente Calderon.
