Atletico Madrid 'counting on' Oliver Torres, Toby Alderweireld for next season

Although a handful of on-loan players will return to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, many of them will likely spend another campaign away from the Spanish capital in 2015-16.

However, according to Atleti sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero, two players who appear set to return to their parent club next season are Oliver Torres and Toby Alderweireld, who are in the midst of loan spells at FC Porto and Southampton, respectively.

"Indeed, our coaches follow a detailed monitoring of all the players that are loaned to other teams," Caminero said. "We are very pleased with their performance and growth in general. Oliver and Alderweireld, for example, are finishing a very good season with Porto and Southampton and we are counting on them for the next campaign."

Torres, a 20-year-old midfielder who is a product of Atleti's youth system, is making a name for himself at Porto. He's scored six goals in 19 Liga Sagres appearances and has been an integral component of the club's run to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Alderweireld, meanwhile, is proving his defensive capabilities at St. Mary's Stadium as part of Southampton's acclaimed backline. He's made 19 Premier League appearances for Ronald Koeman's side and even scored his first goal for the club in a recent fixture at Crystal Palace.

Other players whose future will be reevaluated by Atleti at the end of the season include Borja Baston (on loan at Real Zaragoza), Leo Baptistao (Rayo Vallecano), Emiliano Insua (Rayo Vallecano), Thomas Partey (UD Almeria), Emiliano Velasquez (Getafe), Yassine Bounou (Real Zaragoza), Cristian Rodriguez (Gremio), and Ruben Perez (Granada CF).
