Cristiano Ronaldo issued an apology after picking up a red card in Saturday's 2-1 win over Cordoba, calling his decision to strike Edimar "thoughtless" in a tweet sent out after the contest.
"I apologize to everyone and especially Edimar for my thoughtless action in today's game," the tweet read.
The Real Madrid star endured a frustrating match before his emotions boiled over in the 82nd minute, forcing the referee to send him to an early shower.
