Report: Real Madrid win battle to sign 16-year-old Martin Odegaard
Teenage prodigy Martin Odegaard is reportedly on the verge of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to the Guardian, who picked up on a report from Norwegian newspaper VG, Real Madrid have beat out a number of top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City, in the race to sign Odegaard, who turned 16 in December and is currently at Norwegian side Stromsgodset.
The youngster is widely regarded as one of the most promising footballers on the planet, having already made his international debut for Norway at the age of 15, and VG suggests he'll be signed by Carlo Ancelotti's side during the January transfer window.
The move would make Odegaard the first Norwegian to feature for Real Madrid, and while many believe there are clubs who could do a better job of developing his talent, it shouldn't be forgotten that La Fabrica is one of Europe's top academies.
