Layun, 26, had been widely tipped to leave America after the World Cup, where he featured in every minute of Mexico's four matches. However, he remained at the Estadio Azteca for the Torneo Apertura, helping America clinch its 12th league title.
It had been speculated that Layun was on the verge of Besiktas after beIN Sports' Fernando Cevallos incredibly leaked the following image of the Turkish club's contract offer.

Apparently a car and $3,000 for his house rental fee wasn't enough, and at Granada, Layun's defensive prowess will be relied upon to help the club move out of La Liga's relegation zone, where they sit with only 13 points from 16 fixtures.
Upon signing his new contract, the Mexican delivered a message to America's fans via YouTube, thanking them for their support.
He also tweeted a message to Granada's supporters, which read: "Thank you Granada for gambling on me, to all the aficionados I can guarantee that I'll defend these colours with pride!"
