It certainly looks like the "Come Home Ronaldo" banner caught the attention of its target as video surfaced supposedly showing Cristiano Ronaldo gazing up to the skies as a plane flew over the Estadio El Madrigal on Saturday.

It's not clear what Manchester United fans were hoping to achieve when one of the team's supporters' groups chartered a plane to fly the banner over the match between Real Madrid and Villarreal.

Perhaps they were hoping for a smile or any sign of the Portuguese star acknowledging the supporter's effort to lure him away from Spain and back to Old Trafford.

In the end, all they got was an emotionless look to the sky.
