Napoli categorically deny rumors of Higuain's sale to Barcelona
Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, currently on international duty at the World Cup with Argentina, was going to Barcelona in a deal worth 40 million euros.
Spanish outlet Marca claimed the transfer was done.
Only, there was one minor problem.
Unlike so many of these cases that see rumors spread like wildfire as reporters attempt to get in touch with their various sources and club representatives to verify or discredit the rumors, Napoli didn't wait to let that happen.
The Italian club quickly took to its Twitter account, firmly asserting that the report was disingenuous, and that their star striker is not going anywhere.
This should serve as a good reminder to be careful, especially once the transfer window kicks into high gear, about what you take as fact.
