MADRID - Spain has been ordered to make a third World Cup jersey after FIFA decided the team's normal red shirts didn't offer enough contrast to the Netherlands' orange.
Adidas, Spain's equipment supplier, said Thursday that ''FIFA has expressly mandated'' it to supply Spain with white jerseys for the defending champions' opener against the Dutch on June 13,
FIFA requires teams to have two styles of uniforms, one light and the other dark. Spain has red jerseys for home games and black for road games.
The Dutch home jersey is orange and they plan to wear blue road jerseys against Spain.
