Barcelona's Mathieu to train with Sporting ahead of possible transfer
Jeremy Mathieu has been granted permission by Barcelona to train with Sporting CP ahead of a proposed transfer to the Portuguese side.
A statement on Barca's website indicates that the two teams will discuss a possible transfer for Mathieu, who has one year remaining on his contract.
FC Barcelona has granted permission for defender Jeremy Mathieu to train on a trial basis during his holidays with Sporting Club de Portugal.
Once this period is over, the two clubs and the Frenchman will make a decision on the player’s future.
Injuries have derailed Mathieu's career since his €20-million transfer to the Camp Nou from Valencia in 2014.
Sources revealed to ESPNFC that Barcelona may be prepared to let him leave on a free transfer if Sporting has a spot for the centre-back.
