Juan Carlos Unzue returns to Balaidos as Celta Vigo manager

Juan Carlos Unzue won't be succeeding Luis Enrique at the Camp Nou.

On Sunday, Unzue was confirmed as Celta Vigo's manager for the next two seasons. The Navarrese tactician worked under Enrique as the Galician club's assistant manager in 2013-14 before following him to Barcelona, where they spent three seasons together.

Joining Unzue at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos are Robert Moreno, Rafel Pol, and Joaquin Valdes, who will be employed as the assistant manager, the physical trainer, and the psychologist, respectively.

From 2003 to 2010, Unzue worked next to Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola as the the first team's 'keeper trainer at Barcelona. After spending one season as CD Numancia's manager, he returned to the Blaugrana during the 2012-13 campaign and took up his old position. He was touted as a candidate to fill the void left by Enrique.

At Celta, Unzue will replace Eduardo Berizzo, who took the club to the semi-finals of the Europa League as well as the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
