Bale returns to group training as Real Madrid prepares for El Clasico
Gareth Bale's recovery took a step in the right direction on Thursday.
Real Madrid announced Bale returned to group training as Los Blancos began their preparations for Sunday's edition of El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu. The world's most expensive player suffered a reported ankle injury in the first leg of the club's tie against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Bale rejoined the group in a session in which Real Madrid's starting lineup from Tuesday's extra-time victory over Bayern carried out drills using the ball, before training using the indoor facilities.
According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid is viewing Bale's injury as a knock, but Los Blancos' medical staff have told the Welsh attacker he has an edema and risks further injury by playing in El Clasico.
Bale missed the last installment of El Clasico after suffering an ankle injury that required surgery and kept him in the treatment room for almost three months.
