Zidane says Ronaldo's preferred position is on wing

Versatility is just one of things Cristiano Ronaldo brings to the pitch, but there's one position the Portuguese genius favours.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Zinedine Zidane said the wing is Ronaldo's preferred position, and triggered laughter from the media by claiming it's where hundreds of the player's goals have come from.

"He's always played out on the flank," Zidane said, according to AS. "That's his natural position. I'm sure he will score goals. He can play in a variety of positions because he's an outstanding player. But he prefers playing out on the wing. That's where he scored 300, 400 goals?"

By WhoScored.com's count, Ronaldo can claim to have played on the left wing 29 times this season, compared to 12 as a centre-forward.
