Porto exercises €20M buyout option on Oliver Torres from Atletico Madrid
Oliver Torres and Atletico Madrid are going separate ways.
On Thursday, FC Porto exercised its €20-million buyout option on Torres, who was loaned to the Dragao from Atleti for a second time last year.
In 2014, Torres, then only 19 years old, found himself on a 40-man shortlist for the Golden Boy award, which was first established by Tuttosport. At the time, the Spanish midfielder was in the midst of his first loan spell at Porto. He then returned to Atleti for the 2015-16 La Liga, in which he made 21 appearances, the majority of which as a substitute.
In his second spell at Estadio do Dragao, Torres appeared in all six of Porto's group-stage fixtures in the 2016-17 Champions League and boasts two goals and one assist in the Primeira Liga this season.
