Barcelona to appeal Suarez's 2nd yellow card
Luis Suarez's ban from the Copa del Rey final is not set in stone just yet.
Barcelona announced Wednesday that the club will submit an appeal to La Liga's Competition Committee over the referee's decision to show Suarez a second yellow card during the semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.
The incident in question was a "tussle" with Atletico midfielder Koke as each attempted to win possession of the ball.
Barcelona will contend the match official's report, which stated the Uruguayan forward struck Koke with his arm "in a reckless manner while contesting the ball."
The red card marked Suarez's first since joining Barcelona in 2014.
Barcelona will also appeal a yellow card shown to Sergio Busquets, who was booked for kicking a ball off the pitch. Barca argues that Busquets did not kick the ball out of anger, but was removing it because there were two on the pitch at the time of the incident.
