Ronaldo makes 1st Copa del Rey appearance since 2015
For the first time in over two years, Cristiano Ronaldo featured in a Copa del Rey match after manager Zinedine Zidane surprisingly included the Real Madrid star in his team sheet for Wednesday's encounter with Celta Vigo.
Ronaldo was left out of Real's two matches in the previous round against Sevilla, as Zidane opted to give the Ballon d'Or winner some rest.
However, speculation over his possible appearance in the match gained steam when Ronaldo was included in the 19-man squad before Zidane released his starting XI.
The 31-year-old was eventually named to a strong starting XI, which also features Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, as he gets set to appear in a Copa del Rey match for the first time since Real took on capital city rivals Atletico Madrid in January 2015.
