Zidane thrilled with son's Real Madrid debut goal

From a dad's point of view, Zinedine Zidane was buzzing after his son, Enzo, scored during his Real Madrid debut Wednesday.

The eldest of Zidane's four football-playing sons, Enzo bagged his first goal in a Real Madrid strip just after the hour mark when he slid his shot into the back of the net during a Copa del Rey win over Leonesa.

Although he felt it was necessary to praise all of his players, Zidane expressed his joy after Enzo's goal helped Real secure a decisive victory.

"If I take off my coach's suit, I am very happy for my son," Zidane told reporters. "As his coach I am very happy for (Martin) Odegaard, Alvaro and Ruben (Yanez) too, and for all the players who did great work tonight. Of course when I get home we will talk about it (with Enzo).

"But the team showed a good attitude and intensity tonight, especially considering the 7-1 from the first game. We played a serious game, began strong and achieved what we wanted."

The focus then shifted toward El Clasico when Zidane insisted he is concentrating on preparing for the crucial match rather than thinking about the prospect of possibly going nine points clear of Barcelona with a victory.

"We are just thinking about preparing well for the game," he said, according to ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan. "Whatever happens it will not be decisive. We have a good game against a very good rival, who will make us suffer for sure. We must be well-prepared. We all need to rest, me the first. From tomorrow we will prepare well."

The Spanish giants will clash at the Camp Nou during the first Clasico of the season on Saturday.
