Monchengladbach denies interest in Real's Odegaard
If it was 2014, Borussia Monchengladbach may have been interested in submitting a bid to sign Martin Odegaard.
Instead, sporing director Max Eberl denied reports linking the German side with the young Real Madrid product, saying Gladbach is not a suitable place for Odegaard if he wants to play first-team football.
"It's not true. Two years ago, Odegaard was the most followed young player in Europe, a big promise that chose Real Madrid in the end," Eberl told Sky Deutschland, as translated by Sky Sports.
"Now it can be said that it was a bad signing, but he's not even 18 years old. He is looking for a club in which he can develop his talent. I think that we, in this moment, would not be the best choice for him."
Odegaard, who was rumoured to be on the verge of a move away from Real during the summer transfer window, has struggled to break into the first team in Madrid in the two years since the once-promising teenager joined the Spanish giants.
However, regardless of Monchengladbach's lack of interest, there's a chance he could be on the move once the January transfer window opens.
