How pots for Europa League group draw look after Burnley fall short
It simply wasn't meant to be for Burnley.
Following a 3-1 first-leg defeat in Greece to Olympiacos, the Clarets failed to book themselves a debut in the Europa League group stage, mustering only a 1-1 draw in Thursday's reverse fixture at Turf Moor to prematurely end their hopes in Europe.
Former UEFA Cup finalists Rangers, meanwhile, have returned to a European competition's group stage for the first time since having to climb back up Scotland's football pyramid following their insolvency in 2012. They'll be joined in the competition's main stage by Old Firm rivals Celtic, who dispatched Lithuania's Suduva 4-1 over both legs.
