Do not adjust your screen. That headline is indeed accurate.

A Ghanaian witch doctor is claiming responsibility for the knee injury that is threatening to derail Cristiano Ronaldo's hopes of leading Portugal in the World Cup.

Per The Guardian, Nana Kwaku Bonsam - whose name literally translates to 'Devil of Wednesday' - predicted in February that the Real Madrid superstar would be forced to miss football's showpiece event with an injury.

The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed Wednesday that Ronaldo is suffering from patellar tendinitis, while also still hampered by a lingering leg injury that felled him near the end of his club season.

In an interview with Kumasi-based radio station Angel FM, Bonsam warned the reigning Ballon d'Or winner - and by extension all of Portugal - that he is doing everything in his 'power' to ensure Ronaldo is not fit for Portugal's Group G encounter against his home country on June 26.

I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him.

I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called ‘Kahwiri Kapam.'

I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World up or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.

This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.

We can only hope those poor dogs were not harmed.

As for Ronaldo, it's probably safe to assume that he will return to training ahead of the tournament and turn in a virtuoso performance against Ghana to help Portugal advance out of the proverbial 'Group of Death' at the expense of the Black Stars.

I'm sure many Swedes were hoping, if not praying, for Ronaldo to incur some sort of ill luck prior to their World Cup play-off match. Look how that turned out.
