FIFA revealed for the first time the salaries of former president Sepp Blatter and secretary-general Jerome Valcke, who earned $3.76 million and $2.17 million, respectively, in 2015.

The figures, originally published in Swiss francs, were released under FIFA's new governance regulations, put into place in an effort to offer more transparency into the workings of world football's governing body.

FIFA also announced a loss of $122 million - its first deficit since 2002 - as it feels the effects of legal fees and lost sponsors from the ongoing corruption scandal.

"The challenges of the past 12 months are reflected in our financial results for the year," said newly elected president Gianni Infantino. "These results stand as a cautionary tale of what can happen if we lose sight of the primary responsibilities of our mission, and if we fail to take the necessary steps to protect our organisation against wrongdoing."

Infantino's own salary, however, wasn't made public. The Associated Press reports that FIFA will release his numbers when the 2016 accounts are published.

Other payments include a base salary of $300,000 to each member of the executive committee, and an additional $500,000 to senior vice-president Issa Hayatou, who served as FIFA's president in place of the embattled Blatter.

Despite a crippling criminal investigation by Swiss and U.S. authorities that threatened to expose FIFA from the ground up, it still managed to pull in $1.152 billion in income last year. The majority of the revenue came from the sale of television rights and marketing rights for the 2018 World Cup.
