Report: Inter agree to €35-million fee for Monaco's Geoffrey Kondogbia
Inter appear to have defeated bitter rivals AC Milan in the latest installment of the Milan derby. Only, this one took place in the boardroom.
Sky Sport Italia reports that Inter has agreed to a €35-million fee for Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, beating out their city peers for one of the most sought-after signatures of the summer.
Kondogbia, the 22-year-old French international whose rise to prominence has been meteoric over the past year, is expected to undergo a medical with Inter on Monday, at which point his five-year contract will be made official.
Should the report prove to be true, Inter will be pipping their rivals to a youngster who has the potential to become a stabilizing force in their midfield for years to come, as Kondogbia could be the man to fix what has been a gigantic hole in the squad in recent years.
How, exactly, the Nerazzurri will manage to abide by Financial Fair Play regulations remains to be seen, but there can be no doubting that on the pitch, this seems to be a fantastic signing.
