PARIS - Clement Turpin, the referee for Paris Saint-Germain's 2-0 win over Marseille at the Parc des Princes admitted on Monday he was wrong to send off Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula with 12 minutes left.
"After seeing the images, he realised he had misinterpreted the tackle made by Marseille player Imbula, and he shouldn't have been sent off," a Ligue 1 disciplinary commission statement handed to AFP explained.
Imbula will face no further punishment.
Following the red card, Edinson Cavani scored the second PSG goal in the 2-0 win that brings the defending champions to within one point of their arch rivals at the top of Ligue 1.
