Atletico Madrid sells stake in Lens
Atletico Madrid and Racing Club de Lens are going their separate ways.
On Tuesday, Atleti announced that the club sold its stake in Lens and reached an agreement whereby Solferino, a company from Luxembourg, acquired 34.6 percent of the Sang et Or.
"I'm happy to be able to announce the concretion of this agreement, which presents the renewal of our commitment to a legendary club like Lens," Joseph Oughourlian, Lens' majority shareholder, said. "I want to thank Atletico Madrid, who has been at our side as a strategic partner of confidence."
Atleti and Lens worked together for almost 18 months. Oughourlian declared that the collaboration was "positive from every point of view."
Solferino will become the sole owner of Lens, who sits 15th in Ligue 2.
