Poll: Should Emery or PSG brass take blame for Champions League exit?
It's easy to criticise Unai Emery after Paris Saint-Germain was outclassed over two legs against Real Madrid. Tuesday's host looked bereft of ideas for much of the second encounter and sadly failed to live up to the fervent support from the Parc des Princes stands.
But does Emery have the resources to turn PSG into a true Champions League challenger? When it comes to infrastructure, the capital club is trumped by many of its continental rivals - including fellow nouveau-riche outfit Manchester City - and extravagant spending has resulted in an unbalanced squad. For this, many may say president Nasser Al-Khelaifi must shoulder a significant portion of the blame.
PSG has only beaten three sides (Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, and Chelsea twice) in Champions League knockout ties since the coffers were filled with Qatari coins.
