Abu Dhabi Grand Prix odds: Can Norris close out championship?
Formula 1's drivers' championship comes down to the calendar's final race: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Points leader Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri all have a chance to claim the sport's highest honor. This is the tightest points race since Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton battled it out during the final lap in 2021, and the first time since 2010 that at least three drivers are in contention going into the season's last race.
However, Norris is the betting favorite and firmly in the driver's seat. The 26-year-old is -350 (77.8% implied probability) to claim his first career championship thanks to scenarios where he can take home the title without winning Sunday. Verstappen (+275) and Piastri (+1600) not only need to win the final race, but they also need help from other drivers to capture the championship.

If Norris finishes on the podium Sunday, the championship is his. He won at the desert circuit last year but hasn't achieved another podium finish in his five other career starts at the track. However, things get very interesting if Norris fails to secure a top-three result.
Verstappen is the favorite to win the finale, but he needs Norris to finish fourth or worse, even if he claims his eighth grand prix of the year. It's also hard to envision a scenario where Verstappen finishes second, Piastri doesn't win, and Norris comes eighth or worse. Simply put, Verstappen has to win to have any shot of claiming a fifth straight world title, which hasn't been done since Michael Schumacher's run of dominance from 2000-04.
Piastri needs to win, plus get a disastrous result from his McLaren teammate, to win the championship in his third year in F1. His slim chances are reflected in his +1600 betting odds, but the young Australian still has hope.
However the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix shakes out, the intrigue is at an all-time high with so much uncertainty entering the final race - something rarely seen in Formula 1.
