Williams gives Vowles long-term extension
Williams team principal James Vowles has signed a multi-year extension, the team announced Thursday.
The exact length of the contract is unknown.
"This iconic team has already given me some incredible memories, and we are all united in our ambition to build on our legacy and win world championships again," Vowles said in a statement. "Over the past two years, we have focused on fixing the foundations, and now have a platform to go for glory in the years to come."
Vowles joined the English-based Formula 1 team in 2023 after a stint as Mercedes' strategy director. Vowles was instrumental in the team's dominance throughout the 2010s, helping Mercedes win seven straight drivers' championships and eight consecutive constructors' championships.
Williams is currently fifth in the constructors' championship and has its most points since the 2017 season. Vowles told theScore last year that the team was focused on fighting for wins in 2028.
