McLaren's Lando Norris won the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday for his first Formula 1 victory in the 110th race of his career.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc came in third.

Norris was more than 7.6 seconds quicker than Verstappen, who had won four of the first five races this season coming into Miami. The latter started from the pole position but surrendered the lead when he had to pit after hitting a chicane and knocking a cone out of place at the Miami International Autodrome.

The 24-year-old Norris had 15 podium finishes since entering F1 in 2019 before Sunday's win.

"It's about time, huh? What a race! It's been a long time coming, but finally, I've been able to do it," Norris said after the race. "I'm so happy for my whole team, I finally delivered for them."

Verstappen also praised Norris' performance.

"I'm very happy for Lando, it's been a long time coming, and it's not gonna be his last one," Verstappen said.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz dropped to fifth after being penalized for making contact with McLaren's Oscar Piastri.
