A World Cup packed with stunning results provided yet another jaw-dropper on Wednesday, with Sweden trouncing Mexico 3-0 to emerge as Group F winner.
At the same time, Germany fell 2-0 to South Korea on two late goals, eliminating the reigning World Cup champions and ensuring Mexico's passage to the round of 16.
Not many pundits gave the Swedes a chance to survive the group stage - and certainly not with the Scandinavians sitting third in the group entering Thursday's matches.
As the dust settled Wednesday, it was Sweden advancing to play the second-place finisher in Group E, Mexico lucky to move on to play Group E's winner, and Germany going out in the group stage for the first time in history.
