Olympiacos striker Alan Pulido is safe a day after the former Mexican international was kidnapped at gunpoint near his hometown of Ciudad Victoria in the northern border state of Tamaulipas.
Pulido, 25, was joined by local governor Egidio Torre at the hospital in Ciudad Victoria, and addressed the media nearly 24 hours after his harrowing ordeal began.
"I'm very well, thanks to God," a noticeably shaken Pulido offered.
Pulido spoke to the media with a bandage on his right arm, but beyond that, details surrounding his kidnap and subsequent release are unclear.
Torre refused to expand on the situation, saying, "The most important thing is that he is here. He is with us."
The Tamaulipas security coordination group released a statement Monday, confirming Pulido had been rescued shortly before midnight, and that both state and federal police were involved. The statement also revealed Pulido was medically assessed.
