Raptors' Nurse still '100%' committed to coaching Canada
Nick Nurse says he'll fulfill his pledge to Canada Basketball.
The Toronto Raptors head coach told reporters Friday he remains "100%" committed to coaching Canada's national team when it attempts to secure a spot at the Tokyo Olympics, which are now scheduled to take in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Canadian Press.
Nurse was brought on as Canada's head coach in June 2019, just days after leading the Raptors to their first-ever NBA title. He was set to remain in charge during a last-chance qualification tournament in Victoria, British Columbia, this summer, but that competition has also been pushed to 2021.
The 52-year bench boss old oversaw Canada at the FIBA World Cup last summer. The Canadians failed to make it out of Group H, finishing third behind Australia and Lithuania.
