With Tim Howard making the transatlantic switch in the summer, Everton is reportedly monitoring Ajax shot-stopper Jasper Cillessen.

Everton scouts were in attendance for the Dutch titan's match with rivals PSV last weekend, according to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo.

Cillessen, 26, was the Netherlands' first-choice 'keeper during a fairytale World Cup run in 2014, and has since become the topic of speculation concerning a move to one of Europe's marquee leagues.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez named Joel Robles his 'keeper of choice shortly before Howard agreed to sign with the Colorado Rapids, though concerns remain that the Spaniard may not be the caliber of a European-chasing side like Everton.

That's where the NEC Nijmegen academy product comes into play, boasting both Champions and Europa League experience during his five-year tenure with the Amsterdam side.

It is believed Ajax would demand a fee of £10 million for the 24-time capped international who was the object of Manchester United's interest last summer in light of David De Gea's near-departure.

Cillessen has appeared in 27 matches for Ajax this season in the Eredivisie, with a league-best 18 clean sheets for Frank de Boer's first-place side.
