Southampton's Charlie Austin out 3-4 weeks with hamstring injury
Charlie Austin's hamstring injury isn't as bad as initially feared.
After Ronald Koeman predicted that Austin could miss as many as six weeks with an injury suffered during Southampton's 2-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth, the Dutch manager revised the timeline Thursday, saying the English forward will be out for three-to-four weeks.
"Charlie is out," Koeman said. "Of course, that was what we expected, because really at that time it was about a hamstring. It's Grade 1. That means that Charlie will be out three-to-four weeks. OK, that's bad news, but we have to take it."
Austin, who joined Southampton from Queens Park Rangers in January, missed a month of action at Loftus Road because of hamstring trouble, but the two injuries are unrelated. "It's a different place - it's not the same injury he had when he came to Southampton," Koeman said, according to Sky Sports.
Since arriving at St. Mary's Stadium, Austin has tallied one goal and made five appearances.
