Everton thrash last-placed Aston Villa 4-0
LIVERPOOL, England (AP) Everton thrashed bottom-placed Aston Villa 4-0 in the Premier League on Saturday with Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley each scoring two goals.
Barkley was presented with the simplest of finishes after goalkeeper Brad Guzan could only palm the ball into his path in the 17th.
Lukaku doubled the Toffees' advantage when he headed in Seamus Coleman's cross shortly before the half-hour mark.
A mix up between Guzan and Villa skipper Micah Richards allowed Barkley to net his second with half time fast approaching.
Everton saved its best for last with Lukaku slamming the ball into the roof of the net, following a lovely move involving Gerard Deulofeu and Barkley.
The win lifts Everton to seventh on 20 points while Villa remain at the foot of the table with five points.
