Thibaut Courtois' recovery has begun.
The Chelsea goalkeeper had surgery on Thursday in Barcelona to repair ligaments in his right knee following an injury he sustained during a training session.
Hours after manager Jose Mourinho revealed the extent of the injury, Courtois took to social media to thank his fans for their support:
Chelsea provided a detailed outline of Courtois' procedure:
Thibaut Courtois underwent surgery yesterday on an avulsion of the posterior corner and medial part of the internal meniscus of his right knee. The successful surgery consisted of a reattachment of the meniscus by suturing.
The BBC reported that Courtois will be sidelined for three months.
