Mexican legend Sanchez calls Van Gaal a 'scoundrel' for mistreatment of Chicharito
The circumstances in which Javier Hernandez's career at Manchester United ended did not go unnoticed by Mexican football legend Hugo Sanchez.
Hernandez was reportedly under the impression he would be part of manager Louis van Gaal's plans for the upcoming season until United agreed to sell the Mexican forward to Bayer Leverkusen shortly after a poor showing in the Champions League.
"Van Gaal made a bad decision," Sanchez said, courtesy of Sky Sports, "and it's not one he's done for the first time, he's done it 50,000 times."
Sanchez added that the Dutch manager's decision to seek a transfer, coupled with his reaction after Hernandez missed two opportunities to score during Manchester United's Champions League play-off win against Besiktas, was a shameful response.
"I've coached and a coach cannot do that to their own player. I'd go out and applaud him and tell him to trust in himself. But that look he gave Giggs … what a scoundrel," Sanchez said.
"It was a bad game for Chicharito but any player in the world can do that. Van Gaal is a scoundrel; hopefully those in England realise he is a bad person and treats his players poorly."
