Enner Valencia: 'West Ham seem to have forgotten that I'm injured'

Enner Valencia still doesn't have a clue what's wrong with his knee or what the next steps in his recovery process entail.

The West Ham United striker says he's been left in the dark regarding the exact nature of his knee injury, which he suffered during a Europa League qualifier against Astra Giurgiu in July. Valencia told a radio station in his native Ecuador that the Premier League team has virtually "forgotten" about him.

West Ham, however, denied the accusations.

Club representatives plan to meet with the 25-year-old to clear any confusion and will listen to the interview with Valencia again to see if any of his comments were lost in translation, according to Sky Sports.

"West Ham seem to have forgotten that I'm injured. But they don't let me speak to another doctor. I don't understand why West Ham doctors are doing this to me," Valencia told La Deportiva, courtesy of the London Evening Standard.

"The truth is that West Ham have not been supporting me. I have tried to ask an external doctor but the doctor of West Ham doesn't want me to ask another doctor. It's my health we are talking about here. I have been injured for a month and I still don't know what the name of my injury is."

"I think I will have to ask a doctor to see me behind their backs," Valencia added. "I have been thinking about going to an airport and getting out of London."

Despite his claims that Valencia's injury won't require surgery, West Ham's head of medical and sports science, Stijn Vandenbroucke, hasn't ruled out the possibility, according to The Guardian.
