Competition for the starting 'keeper role could increase if West Bromwich Albion can convince Cardiff City to sell David Marshall.
The Midlands team looks to add to their crop of goalies as they close in on a £5-million transfer for the Scottish international, league sources told Sky Sports.
The addition of Marshall will increase competition for the starting role between Boaz Myhill and Jack Rose, while Ben Foster - last year's first choice goalie - will likely be sidelined until October because of a knee injury.
Marshall, who has three years remaining on his current deal, has made 237 appearances since joining Cardiff from Norwich City in 2009.
