Frank Lampard's long-awaited debut in Major League Soccer has been put on hold because the New York City FC midfielder continues to suffer from a calf injury.
The former Chelsea captain was expected to make his debut against the New England Revolution on Saturday, but will miss the fixture after failing to overcome the injury he suffered before the team's last match against Toronto FC, according to Andrew Das of the New York Times.
He will likely play his first game in the North American league when NYCFC host Kaka and Orlando City SC on July 26.
The extended delay puts him on course to make his debut alongside his new teammate Andrea Pirlo, following the Italian's move from Juventus.
