Arsene Wenger shoots down Mesut Ozil transfer rumours
Arsene Wenger ended speculation that Arsenal will sell the club's record signing by ruling out the possibility of Mesut Ozil departing the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Arsenal boss reiterated the team's desire to retain the midfielder as he continues to expand his experience in England's top flight and help Arsenal build on their impressive 2014/15 campaign.
“Ozil is our player, he will remain our player and he wants to remain our player,” Wenger told reporters upon arrival in Singapore for the Barclays Asia Trophy preseason tournament.
“It is a big season for him because he had a difficult start last year and in the second part of the season he was very important. There are many offensive players who have an important season in front of them but I’m confident because I think they have the quality.
Ozil, who signed a five-year deal with Arsenal following his £42.4-million transfer from Real Madrid, is currently with the team in Asia as they get set to play Everton, Stoke City, and a local Singapore team before their encounter with Manchester City at Wembley Stadium to battle for the FA Community Shield.
