Aaron Cresswell signs new 5-year contract at West Ham
West Ham United is looking more and more like a squad that can compete for a Champions League berth with each passing day.
On Monday, the club announced that left-back Aaron Cresswell put pen to paper on a five-year contract that also includes the option of a further two years.
Cresswell, 25, arrived at Upton Park last summer from Ipswich Town and played each and every minute of West Ham's 2014-15 Premier League campaign, notching two goals and four assists in the process.
"It's exciting times for me to pen a new deal at West Ham," Cresswell told West Ham TV. "Thankfully last year was a good season for me personally to play every minute of every game, so it's nice to finally commit my future to West Ham.
"I was at Ipswich 12 months ago and when West Ham came in for me there was only one place for me. I jumped straight in the car, down the A12 and signed for West Ham. So for me to play for a club like West Ham, week in week out, is massive and these are exciting times."
Chairman David Gold took to Twitter immediately following West Ham's announcement, and it appears he's under the impression that Cresswell will be at his club until 2022.
