Leicester City investigating alleged 'racist orgy' involving 3 players in Thailand
Leicester City has launched an investigation after three of the club's players, including the son of manager Nigel Pearson, were allegedly filmed in an orgy with a Thai woman who was subjected to racial abuse.
The alleged incident took place while the club, owned by Thai billionaires, was touring the country in celebration of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
The footage, obtained by the Sunday Mirror, allegedly shows the 22-year-old defender James Pearson, the son of the club’s manager Nigel, striker Tom Hopper, 21, and goalkeeper Adam Smith, 22, naked in a Thai hotel room as women are filmed engaged in sex acts. In a clip of the video posted on the newspaper’s website, one of the men appears to be heard calling one of the women a "slit eye" in a racist slur.
And later one calls one of the women "minging - an absolute one out of 10" as his friends laugh. Other offensive comments are made to the women as the players appear to laugh and egg each other on. It is alleged the trio shared the explicit video with friends back in the UK.
Note: The footage in question, which some may find disturbing, can be viewed here.
Leicester released a brief statement on the matter, which read as follows:
"We take the conduct of our players at every level extremely seriously and will take appropriate action, if necessary, once the full facts of the situation have been established.
"Pending the outcome of an internal investigation, the club will make no further comment."
The disturbing, vile nature of the alleged incident could lead to the three players being released by the club, particularly considering manager Nigel Pearson's outspoken, anti-racism stance in the past - he is a patron of the charity Show Racism the Red Card.
As The Telegraph notes, there is also the matter of the club's partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, which was just renewed for a third season.
And the scandal is likely to anger Leicester's Thai billionaire owners, father and son Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, who have pumped millions into the club and worked hard to establish it a large fanbase in Thailand.
Leicester have been in "strategic, international partnership" with the Tourism Authority of Thailand for three years.
