Report: Liverpool to make offer for Aston Villa's Benteke
Liverpool could be on the verge of putting in an offer for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke following the FA Cup final.
The Merseyside club will make an enquiry following Villa's encounter with Arsenal at Wembley Stadium on May 30, sources have told ESPNFC.
Acquiring Benteke would be a major boost to a Liverpool attack that was plagued by injuries and poor performances throughout the Premier League campaign.
Daniel Sturridge, the team's primary forward, suffered from various injuries that limited him to just 12 league appearances, while Mario Balotelli struggled mightily during his return to England and only managed four goals in all competitions.
Benteke, however, overcame a slow start to the season and put on a blistering scoring display that coincided with Tim Sherwood's arrival as manager after Paul Lambert was sacked.
The Belgian international finished the season with 13 goals, including 11 in his final 10 matches.
