Ramires misses Chelsea's title triumph after being taken to hospital with illness
London - Chelsea midfielder Ramires missed his team's Premier League title-clinching victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday after being taken to hospital due to illness, manager Jose Mourinho revealed.
The Brazil international was named in Chelsea's starting XI at Stamford Bridge, only for Juan Cuadrado to take his place shortly before kick-off in a game that the home team would go on to win 1-0.
"Ramires went to the hospital," Mourinho told his post-match press conference. "He was feeling so bad that we decided to take him out of the dressing room and take him to hospital.
"I'm going to visit him now. Maybe he's not there anymore, but he was feeling really bad, really ill."
Chelsea's victory gave them an unassailable lead over Manchester City and Arsenal in the Premier League table, earning the west London club a first league title since 2010 and fifth in total.
