Pellegrini insists Toure will stay at Manchester City: 'Yaya will continue playing here'
Even though Manuel Pellegrini might not be at Manchester City next season, the Chilean manager insisted Friday that Yaya Toure will indeed be returning for the 2015-16 campaign.
Toure's future at the Etihad Stadium remains clouded by uncertainty as Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini is optimistic about a reunion with the Ivorian defensive midfielder at the San Siro, while City are reportedly planning a summer clear-out that will see them consider serious offers for the player.
However, Pellegrini - who is dealing with similar reports regarding his future - appears unfazed by all the speculation.
"Yaya is a very important player for our team," said Pellegrini at a news conference, according to ESPN FC. "Maybe all of you are waiting to criticise him or sacrifice him but Yaya will continue playing here because he is a very important player for me and the squad and for everyone."
Two years remain on Toure's contract at the end of the season.
