Arsene Wenger on Abou Diaby's future at Arsenal: 'He has to make a decision'
Injury history be damned.
Even though Abou Diaby is probably one the most injury-prone players to ever grace the Premier League, he might still have a future at Arsenal once his contract expires at the end of the season.
On Thursday, manager Arsene Wenger spoke about the club's situation regarding Diaby and hinted at a potential re-signing. The 28-year-old midfielder has made only 22 appearances in the last four seasons and has suffered a myriad of injuries since breaking his ankle in 2006. However, he featured for 45 minutes in a practice game Tuesday having recovered from a calf injury.
"I had a chat with him and told him how I can envisage the future," Wenger said, according to the Guardian. "He has to make a decision. Of course he understands completely that he has to perform and to show that he can be present in a consistent way.
"I will see where we go from there. I wouldn't like to go into details, we have to meet again to see where we go from what I told him. It has to be linked a little bit with his presence."
