Fabricio Coloccini handed 3-match ban after Newcastle's red card appeal rejected
Reuters
Newcastle will be without captain Fabricio Coloccini for the next three matches.
The club announced Tuesday that their appeal against the Argentine's red card, which he picked up in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Everton, has been rejected. As a result, the defender will face the mandatory three-match ban that accompanies a straight red card.
Coloccini, 33, was given his marching orders for a foul on Aaron Lennon in the second half of the contest.
As a result, the veteran will miss Newcastle's upcoming Premier League matches against Arsenal, Sunderland and Liverpool.
