Wayne Rooney annoyed that private boxing video leaked to public
Following Manchester United's win over Tottenham, Wayne Rooney opened up about the emergence of a video showing him getting knocked out by former teammate Phil Bardsley.
The video was released by The Sun, and showed the United player sparring with Bardsley in Rooney's home. After some jostling between the two, Bardsley catches Rooney with a left-handed jab, which sent the English international tumbling to the ground unconscious.
"That's the world we live in today I think. It was a few mates in a private house which has somehow managed to go front page of a national newspaper," Rooney told Sky Sports following the 3-0 victory.
"It's private, in my own home, although it's got out. It's what friends do, they mess around in the house.
"Unfortunately it's made the front page of the newspaper, so you have to just deal with that."
Rooney didn't show any sign of being impacted by the release of the footage as he went on to score his 19th goal of the season. He even acknowledged the incident during his celebration when he threw a couple punches and fell as though he'd been knocked out.
