Darren Fletcher's move to Upton Park has apparently been delayed by Manchester United's refusal to pay off the remainder of the Scottish international's contract.
United are unwilling to allow Fletcher to leave on a free transfer while also paying the remainder of his contract (which expires in the summer), a source tells Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail.
While West Ham are eager to boost the squad and maintain their positive first half of the season, it's unclear whether the team is able to meet the monetary requirements of Fletcher's contract.
United are reportedly content to either allow Fletcher to leave and pursue increased playing time with another team, or have him see out the remainder of his contract at Old Trafford.
