Manchester City's Lampard suffers undisclosed injury
Manchester City may have to find an alternate super-sub after veteran midfielder Frank Lampard suffered an undisclosed injury before the club's friendly against Hamburg in Abu Dhabi.
Lampard was injured during the warmup, yet was able to take the field before being substituted 20 minutes into the match as a precaution, the team announced.
It's unclear how long the injury might sideline the midfielder, but any amount of time away from the team would be a blow to City.
He's been surprisingly consistent since signing with Manchester City in the summer, and has played an integral role coming off the bench. In Lampard's 17 appearances with the team, 14 of which have occurred as a substitute, he's recorded five goals.
The injury casts doubt on Lampard's availability during City's biggest game of the season when they take on his former club Chelsea on Jan. 31.
