Report: Toronto FC to make Jozy Altidore one of league's top-paid players

Two abysmal seasons at Sunderland won't prevent Toronto FC's new signing Jozy Altidore from becoming one of Major League Soccer's highest-paid players.
The U.S. international has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with Toronto, worth roughly $30 million, sources tell ESPNFC, following the swap agreement between the MLS club and Sunderland.
Altidore's reported salary puts him in the same pay category as other Designated Players, such as TFC teammate Michael Bradley, the Seattle Sounders' Clint Dempsey and several high-profile European players.
Jermain Defoe, who returned to England after a season in the MLS, is also set for a massive payday, as his deal with the Black Cats is reportedly worth £80,000 per week.
